The Elements

Earth

Stability · Endurance

Personality

Earth is often associated with patience, dependability, and perseverance. Those connected to it may value stability and take a steady approach to challenges, although endurance doesn't always mean being inflexible.

Capabilities

  • Manipulate soil, stone, and other earth-based materials.
  • Shape terrain and solid structures.
  • Reinforce or move earth for defensive and practical purposes.
Limitations

Earth-based abilities depend partly on the materials available. Larger or more complex changes can demand additional effort and control, particularly when working with substantial amounts of material.

Water

Adaptation · Resilience

Personality

Water is often associated with adaptability, perceptiveness, and resourcefulness. Those connected to it may respond readily to changing circumstances, finding different approaches when their original plans no longer work.

Capabilities

  • Manipulate water and direct its movement.
  • Control the flow and pressure of water.
  • Develop specialized applications (healing, ice) through subelements, where applicable.
Limitations

The availability of water can influence which abilities are practical in a given situation. Maintaining control over greater quantities or more complex movements may require additional concentration and effort.

Air

Freedom · Perspective

Personality

Air is often associated with independence, curiosity, and open-mindedness. Those connected to it may value freedom or enjoy exploring different ideas and perspectives.

Capabilities

  • Manipulate wind and air currents.
  • Generate or redirect air pressure.
  • Apply air manipulation to movement and mobility.
Limitations

Precise manipulation can require considerable concentration, particularly across larger areas. Strong or shifting air currents can also make fine control more difficult.

Fire

Change · Transformation

Personality

Fire is often associated with passion, determination, and a drive for change. Those connected to it may be drawn to challenges or motivated to make things different, though these qualities can manifest in many ways.

Capabilities

  • Generate and manipulate flames and heat.
  • Apply heat to transform materials.
  • Direct fire with varying degrees of intensity and precision.
Limitations

Fire requires control to use safely and precisely. More demanding applications can require greater concentration and energy, and poorly controlled flames can cause unintended damage.

The Lost Elements

The fifth and sixth elements

Elements of Rarity

Little is known about the Fifth Element, and even less is known about the Sixth. Their origins, abilities, and even their names remain subjects of speculation. While historical accounts describe individuals believed to have wielded these elements, the records are too incomplete and contradictory to establish much with certainty.

Some accounts describe remarkable heroes; others tell of individuals responsible for terrible acts. Alleged prophecies offer possible explanations, but little consensus exists about their meaning, or whether the individuals described truly bore either element.

The Sixth, in particular, remains little more than a legend to many, though it is often believed to be closely connected to the Fifth.

Unlike the four recognized elements, which are relatively common, the Fifth and Sixth are believed to appear in only a handful of individuals worldwide at any given time. With so few known cases, their abilities are difficult to document or even measure.

This uncertainty has fostered a widespread belief that those who bear either element are exceptionally dangerous. Whether that reputation is deserved remains difficult to determine.
